Weekend island stay at Avernakø in the South Funen Archive
Go on this weekend island stay alone or with your very best yarn friends. In addition to plant dyeing and a guided walking tour, the focus will be on coziness, community and the common interest in the yarn. Bring your knitwear and get all the way down into gear. Avernakø Landhotel a place with a homely atmosphere, lots of coziness and good homemade food. In addition, we have a park-like garden, eatery and shop.

Program The weekend stay starts in Faaborg where plant colors and field facilitator Henriette Grube will welcome you at 9:45 a.m. at Faaborg Harbor by the Ø-Færgen. At the crossing there will be coffee, cake and cozy get-togethers. Day 1- 11.45: Arrival and accommodation at Avernakø Landhotel. Preparation of yarn for pickling, as well as starting color bath.
- 1:00 p.m.: Lunch.
- 14.00: Guided walking tour.
- 15.30: Afternoon coffee with cake, after which pickling is completed and tomorrow's color bath is chosen.
- 6:30 p.m.: Dinner, after which Henriette will talk about her approach to plant coloring and we will talk about pickling, plants, different fibers and what else is on our mind.
- 8:00 a.m.: Breakfast. Before breakfast, light a fire for a color bath.
- 8:45 a.m.: The coloring process is started up.
- From 9.00 to 11.00: Free play is offered while the bonfires are looked after.
- 11:00: Dyeing is completed, the yarn is washed and fixed.
- 13.00: Lunch followed by coffee and evaluation.
- At 2:30pm: Departure towards ferry.
- 15:10: The ferry departs from Avernakø towards Faaborg. During the crossing, Henriette will share her knowledge of the South Funen Archipelago.

Plant Colouring We carry out all processes in plant coloring. We dye 2-3 different colors.- Step 1: Pickling that enables the yarn's ability to take on color.
- Step 2: Preparation of color bath.
- Step 3: The plant dyeing itself, in which the yarn is heated and the dyeing itself occurs.
- Step 4: The yarn is washed and fixed.

Practical information
- Meeting point: 9:45am at Kanalvej 13, 5600 Faaborg at Ø-Færgen.
- Ferry departure: At 10:00 the ferry departs from Faaborg to Avernakø. We arrive in Avernakø at 11:10.
- Weekend stay ends Sunday at 15:50 at Faaborg Havn
- Bring: Clothes according to the weather and comfortable shoes for the hike. Any yarn for plant dyeing - mohair, angora yarn or wool (max. 500 g).
- It is possible to buy yarn at the Landhotell.
- Cancellation policy: We reserve the right to cancel the event if there are fewer than 5 people registered.
